save-gas moneyPlanning on taking a few road trips this summer? We all know the cost of gasoline keeps going up, leading us to wonder if we can even afford a road trip. Well fear not, we have some good tips here to help you best conserve the gasoline after a visit to the gas pump.

Properly Aligned Tires

Poor alignment not only causes tires to wear out more quickly, but also forces your engine to work harder. If your engine needs to work harder, you’re burning up more gas.

Keep your car Tuned

By keeping your car maintained with regular tune ups your engine will operate at maximum efficiency which can help improve your mileage.

Slow it down

Driving within the speed limit not only makes sense to law enforcers but it helps your gas mileage from being gobbled up. It’s simple, the faster you drive the more gas you use.

Don’t burn rubber when you pull out

Avoid fast start ups at any traffic light or stop sign. You’ll burn more gas by jerky starts. Instead smoothly and gradually accelerate to the acceptable speed.

Pump up your Tires

Properly inflated tires work more efficiently than tires that are under inflated. You’ll waste more gas by tires that pull when traveling.

Don’t Ride your Brakes

Riding with your foot on the brake pedal will not only wear out brake pads (and they are not cheap to replace) but can also increase gas consumption by as much as 35%.

Avoid high traffic areas

If you can, avoid areas that are highly congested. Stop-and-go slow traffic can suck up a lot of gas. Don’t forget idling your car guzzles your gas too!
